Thomas R. Niblack, aka Tommy, was born into a musical family in the great city of Philadelphia, PA. His grandparents, Elder Goldwire McLendon (Season 3 runner up on BET’s Sunday Best) and Ruth McLendon, along with their children, traveled and sang together as the “Mclendon Family” as well as with the gospel choir known as the Savettes. His mother, Patricia Ann McLendon, imparted her appreciation for music to Tommy. However, it wasn’t until his junior year in college that he realized he had been gifted with the ability to sing. Tommy attended Georgia College and State University where he further developed his musical talent as a drummer, bassist, and guitarist. He also played the drums and sang with his family at his grandfather’s church, St. James Christian Fellowship in Tennille, GA. Upon graduating from college, Tommy moved to New York to work with his uncle, the late Keith Diamond, a Grammy Award winning producer. He also sang with his extended family at the Tabernacle of Praise in Bronx, New York.
Tommy did not begin to blossom however, until he met the extraordinary Melonie Daniels, who helped him expand his gift and opened the doors to performing as a background singer for many famous artists. With the assistance of Andre Deyo, (“Jenny From the Block”) and Scott “Shavoni” Parker, (“Talk To Me,” Brandy),Tommy also developed strong song writing and production skills. After a series of setbacks in his career, personal, and family life, Tommy realized that he needed a change in his life and rededicated his life to the Lord. He subsequently took a leap of faith and traveled to Los Angels, CA. , where he met and worked with one of the greatest voices in gospel music, the late Andrae Crouch. While living and working with Andrae Crouch, it became clear to Tommy that he was called to sing the praises of the Lord. Tommy returned home to his family in New York, with a new passion for the Lord and with a new direction for his life. Tommy is now an accomplished song writer and producer and has placements with major recording artists such as Jared Cotter, Oryan, and Brandy. Tommy is also fulfilling God’s plan for his life as the worship leader at Valley Christian Church in Hopewell Junction, New York. Tommy resides in Dutchess County New York with his wife and their three children.
