Gospeljazztress Catrina Reese is a recording artist, songwriter and anointed psalmist. She is also a licensed and ordained preacher, certified life coach, motivational speaker, author, conference and workshop facilitator, and talk show host. But most of all, she is a daughter of the King and servant of God’s people. Called “the Phyllis Hyman of Gospel,” Catrina has opened, either as a solo artist or member of a group, for a host of major Gospel and Contemporary Christian recording artists including Beverly Crawford, Yolanda Adams, Vickie Winans, Deitrick Haddon, Kathy Mattea, David Tang, Vox, and Gospel legends Dorothy Norwood and Pastor Shirley Caesar.
Catrina stepped into musical theater with a two-year production, a reenactment at Historic Brattonville in McConnell, SC, where she portrayed a slave girl. She also played a choir member and nurse in “Daughter of the King-The Musical” at Central Piedmont Community College.
She has expanded her brand with her blog talk show, “Let’s Talk Kingdom with Catrina,” which airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. She has interviewed such guests as Dr. Pete Sulack, Grammy winner Yasmeen Williams, Dove Awards winner Antonio Neal, renowned entertainment lawyer Kendall Minter, Dorothy Norwood. In 2015, Catrina was voted as the Prayze Factor People’s Choice Award Season 5 Best Jazz Solo Artist of the Year. Between 2014 and 2016, she was also nominated in Prayze Factor’s Urban Contemporary Solo Artist, Christian Contemporary Solo Artist of the year, and Praise and Worship Solo Artist of the Year categories. During that time, Queen City Awards nominated her Female Gospel Artist of the Year, and her blog talk radio show “Let’s Talk Kingdom with Catrina” was nominated and won as part of the WPGN Network, Internet Radio Station of the Year for The Rhythm of Gospel Award. In 2016, she won the Akademia Music Award for Best Christian/Jazz Song for “Takeover,” her single released at the end of 2015.
In 2017, Catrina won the Gospel Image award for Gospel Female Artist of the Year. She was honored by ACHI Magazine with the Radio Personality of the Year award. She was also nominated for Female Gospel Artist of the Year by the Queen City Awards. Also in 2017, Catrina launched New Day Movement Life Coaching, Consulting and Counseling, LLC. Her life coaching business has been something that Catrina has dreamed of doing all her life. Catrina said, “People come up to me in the stores, at restaurants, in Walmart, wherever I’m in line and start sharing things with me. And I listen. People are looking for someone to take the time to hear them and God just happens to use me as that vessel, to be that listening ear and to assist where needed. I was born for this!”
Her heart for missions work has allowed her to travel with Samaritan’s Feet to Cape Town, South Africa (2007), Guyana (2009) and Burundi (2012). While in these countries, she was able to minister in song and while in Burundi to African President Pierre Nkurunziza. Catrina was on a team that participated in The American Bible Challenge, in which they gave the proceeds to Samaritan’s Feet.
Catrina has written and produced three Gospel albums which can be found at digital music stores including Amazon and iTunes. Catrina signed with 2 Save Souls Records, an emerging Christian record label, in 2014. Her first EP on the label, “Touched By An Angel,” with the title song of the same name, was released In May 2017. She released her first Christmas single, “Mary Did You Know,” in late 2017.
